Since the Skin Veil from Ellis Faas landed in my lap I’ve been unable to put it down, why? Because it’s the closest foundation I’ve tried that actually mimics my skin tone.
It’s natural looking in a way that doesn’t look like I’m wearing makeup. You may be asking yourself how can this be? It doesn’t look like I have piles of foundation and powder caked on my face, yet my skin is luminous and my imperfections are concealed without artifice.
Ellis Faas mascara is another beauty tool that enhances your natural lashes without looking like you’re trying too hard.
Naturally I’m also in love with MAKE, they make the most amazing Glossing Powder that leaves your skin glowing even more if that’s possible.
And last but not least I am addicted to my Brow Powder eyebrow pencil by iT Cosmetics, it’s not only natural looking, but it doesn’t come off until you take it off.
Ladies, this was just my canvas, this doesn’t include my skincare regimen or my red lipstick.
What beauty items are you currently using?
I found three new reds to consider, after all a girl can never have too many.
The New Audacious collection by Nars has a hue for everyone, there are nudes, reds and every color you can imagine.
I found these three and once I’m at my Neighborhood Nars on Fillmore Street I’ll even consider the nudes.
Which do you recommend?
I don’t know about you guys but I love playing with colour, layering, mixing and matching. A new brand I mentioned awhile ago is by MAKE.
The colours are bold, look-at-me colours that can be applied subtly or with dramatic flair. Everything is in the wrist and your favorite makeup brushes, although I have been known to use my fingertips.
This palette is called Celeste e Verde, Blue & Green and the colours are sublime. The pigments have long-wearing colour, they don’t come off until you take them off.
I can’t wait to try these with one of my various shades of crimson and guess what? If you forget to take your tried&true red, there is a red inside that not only compliments the shades but various skin tones. Plus, if you’re not in the mood for red there are other shades available.
Truly a collection of fiery brights and gorgeous earth tones.
Also available at Barneys New York
I love early birthday presents, thank you! I eagerly opened up the box like a little girl and was so excited over the amazing colours. Especially the Hot Lips L401, I immediately applied the color over my Dragon Girl and am in love!
It’s like an orange-red that can be deepened for a darker-red. I may not be describing it right and trust me, my picture is not doing it justice.
All three shades are perfect for summer and after summer. I thought about applying the color to my hand to show you, but even then it wouldn’t do it justice.
*The set contains:
- Milky Lips L207, Nude Pink: high-pigment lipstick with an incredibly lightweight feel
- Glazed Lips L304, Sheer Orange: super high-shine gloss
- Hot Lips L401, Bright Red: pigment-rich formula with a non-greasy finish
- long-wearing, paraben-free, packed with pigment, moisturising Candalila Wax and Vitamin E, and of course no animal testing, because these products are “Only Tested On Supermodels”.
I have never been so in-love over a new shade of red like I am right now. The pigment is comfortable, non-drying and just gorgeous for this Leo girl.
You can purchase the colours individually or keep an eye out at Net-A-Porter.
I can’t keep track anymore, they are all gorgeous and work with my complexion and pearly whites.
I try not to get fixated on anyone color, but sometimes that happens.
I’m searching for a new red, does anyone have any suggestions?
Jungle Red by Nars is a personal favorite that is being worn down to the nub. If you guys haven’t seen the movie “The Women” that’s where the name for the iconic lipstick came from.
I love that movie and watch it every other year or so. I’m a huge fan of 1930’s Films. Why? Not only because the leading ladies wore matching red lips and nails, but because some of the best writing went into those movies.
So, what’s your favorite 1930’s film?
Two of my favorite lipstick brands, ELLIS FAAS and NARS. Why? Because the hues are drop-dead-gorgeous. I mean really you can’t go wrong.
I alternate all of my lipstick during certain times of the year, sometimes getting stuck with one shade for weeks at a time.
What about you?

I love it when celebrities embrace red lipstick. It’s a bold-look-at-me-color that demands attention.
Taylor Schilling from “Orange is the New Black” is wearing one of my all time favorite shades, Dragon Girl by Nars.
Can you guess who did her flawless makeup application? None other than celebrity makeup artist Tina Turnbow.
But look closely at the details, Taylor has gorgeous skin and looks amazing.
This is proof that Dragon Girl by Nars is pretty much a universal shade of crimson. It’s worn by blonds, brunettes and redheads.
Have you tried it yet?
Okay, I’ve been having a hard time putting down my Nars, but really like the New Besame Tango Red. What to do, I ended up applying the Tango Red first and layering on top my Jungle Red by Nars.
I have to say that the results are pretty, and perhaps one day there will be a new selfie to show you guys how pretty it actually is.
What two shades do you mix?
I took this Jpg in 2011 when I made the change from a beauty blog to an all red lipstick blog. Now I added other lifestyle posts at the recommendation of my sister Wendy.
Not much has changed, I still have various shades of red. How many do you guys have?
