Red Lipstick Quote’s – Diana Vreeland

Diana Vreeland on Red….

“All my life I’ve pursued the perfect red. I can never get painters to mix it for me. It’s exactly as if I’d said, ‘I want rococo with a spot of Gothic in it and a bit of Buddhist temple’—they have no idea what I’m talking about. About the best red is to copy the color of a child’s cap in any Renaissance portrait.” – Diana Vreeland

ELLIS FAAS on her Signature Red Lip

“My signature colour is Ellis Red, so that is the only shade that comes in all three textures. For me, it is the true colour of blood, which is the most vital “human colour”. It has been a beauty ideal for ages (think e.g. Snow White). It was also the most difficult colour to recreate in the lab, because of the complex combination of pigments that give the colour its depth”. – ELLIS FAAS

Rock Red This Season – Special Guest Post by Anya Sarre

Gwen Stefani knows that the best-kept secret is a bright pop of red. This superstar seldom hits the red carpet without her trademark red lipstick. If you think that you cannot pull off the color on your own, you should think again. I’m a big fan of seeing women in red because the color is classic and timeless. Feel confident wearing your ruby-red lips this season. Dare to be bold and try out a few pieces of bright red clothing.

The classic ruby-red shade was all over the runways. Marc Jacobs and Donna Karan were just a few of the top designers showcasing red fashions. These designers showed that women could wear all red outfits or add just a pop of red to glam up any outfit. You don’t need to rush right out and buy an entire wardrobe in shades of red, but you can add a few new pieces to give your existing wardrobe a stylish edge.

Red jeans are a must for the season. While many women love the look and fit of skinny jeans, I love the look of red flares. Play with a few different shades. Dark red heeled boot with a pop of bright red lipstick might be all the color you need! The rest of you can be toned down with neutral colors and patterns. When wearing bright red on your bottom half, you must keep the rest of your look in mind. Pairing the jeans with a plain white or black tee-shirt keeps the red shade from overwhelming your look.

I am also in love red accessories and women’s shoes the season. A red fedora is a simple way to add that color that you crave without making too bold of a statement. Another look that looks absolutely fab with a red tinted lip-gloss. If you feel a little more daring, you might rock a red belt cinched around a plain black dress or tee-shirt, or you can add a pair of bright red stilettos or ankle boots to your favorite dress.

Don’t forget about jewelry either! While you might not have the means to buy a garnet or ruby necklace, you can easily find a faux necklace that looks like the real thing. I’ll let you in on a little secret too: I can’t even tell the difference. Create a show-stopping look with chandelier earrings in bright red, or dress up your ordinary jeans and flats with a dramatic faux ruby ring. Even a small amount of red will get you ready for fall.

September’s Red – Italian Red by Monica for Dolce & Gabbana

One of my biggest movie star crushes was Vincent Cassel, until I found out he was married to Monica Bellucci. I still like him, but the fantasy ended, as I know that any man in his right mind would never leave her. Monica in my opinion is the most beautiful woman in the world – who can forget her in Malena?

“If You want a man to notice you, just wear red lipstick” – Monica Bellucci

During one of my internet searches I stumbled upon her New Lipstick collaboration with Dolce & Gabbana. I immediatly headed down to Saks and bought “Italian Red”.

Italian Red is a deep orange-red that works on most skin tones. The rich pigment is moisturizing and the color fades nicely throughout the day. Lately I’ve been into orange reds, must be because my pearly whites look whiter.
