Red & Blue

b0aaf3e0-ef8b-46fe-b6b8-4d22ea72d09cYou know which colored mascara looks great with your favorite shade of crimson?

A bright cornflower blue, in this case it’s my favorite by Butter London.

I apply Inky Six to the tips of my lashes once I am done applying the first layers of my black mascara.

I end up looking more Parisian Chic and feel a lot better about myself.

Have you tried blue mascara yet?

A Red Lipstick to Consider – Harlow Red by Bobbi Brown

transpa13957463794058Over at Elle Es they have a post dedicated to red lipstick, and the various shades that compliment an array of skin tones.

I found one that I’m going to have to go try on this weekend, as I have been wearing my New Nars “Jungle Red” for the past few months.

What do you guys think?

Doesn’t Amanda Peet look gorgeous? Want to know what makeup she’s wearing?

She’s wearing my favorite Eye brow pencil by “IT” Cosmetics and a velvet red hue by Nars.

“For this gorgeous lady last night at the GAME OF THRONES premiere. I used IT Cosmetics “Brow Power” and NARS “Majella” satin lip pencil. – Tina Turnbow, Celebrity Makeup Artist.

February’s Red – Jungle Red by Nars

photoI wasn’t going to buy myself a new red, but found myself inside of our neighborhood Nars Boutique, buying Valentine’s Day gifts for my sisters.

My friend Dalia (makeup artist extraordinaire) persuaded me to try on Jungle Red. She was wearing it herself, but when I first looked at the shade, it didn’t look like my kind of red.

Well, I tried it and was hooked.  I know, Jungle Red has been available for years, but it’s better being late to the party than missing it entirely.

Red for the Holiday’s at Barneys New York

154105048_product_1Besides wearing crimson hues, I like anything in red, from shoes to jewelry and note books for jotting down things I don’t want to forget, okay I actually use my notes section on my phone for that, but I would still love a red address book or notebook.

We scoured the web for some interesting finds this holiday season, that actually can be purchased for ourselves at any time of the year, but of course those of us that love red already know that. So if you’re looking for a red pedicure, crimson pout, statement heals or a house warming gift, Barneys has it all.

502166771_product_1There are other objects de’ art too, not just items in our favorite hue, since we don’t need an excuse to wear it.

Let’s not forget that red comes in a variety of shades, from deep reds to orange reds and pink reds.

Why not give this holiday a  bit of color?

502667669_product_1These earrings by Irene Newworth are stunning, especially in person.

500461925_product_1I love carrying around a note book, especially from Smythson of Bond Street, one year my sister Wendy gave me a pink address book and another year I received a red passport holder, love it!

You can never go wrong with a red candle, especially in blood orange, one of my favorite scents and honestly I love it as a gelato and spritzer.

Here’s to a great holiday season!

My First Nude Lip – La Dolce Vita by Nars

nars-velvet-matte-lip-pencil-dolce-vitaStands to say that Nars is a genius when it comes to whipping up the most gorgeous hues.  I’ve become obsessed with visiting my friend Dalia at my neighborhood Nars boutique on Fillmore Street.  I simply cannot walk by without popping in.

This time I doubled up on what I think is my New signature crimson, Dragon Girl and I fell-in-love with La Dolce Vita.

A gorgeous nude hue with a hint of pink undertones, and guess what? I layered my Chanel pink over it for that extra touch.

Remember, every City Girl needs a nude….

My Two New Hues….

downloadI finally walked into the Nars boutique on Fillmore Street to try on Dragon Girl and walked out with Mysterious Red and Dragon Girl.

I am in-love! Both shades are deep, long-lasting and do not dry out your lips throughout the day, actually you may not even have to reapply.

Now I’m thinking about Lumiere another red/pink shade that I can’t seem to get out of my head. However I don’t need lipstick like I need a hole-in-my-head, but you know me, if not today then this weekend for sure.

Here’s to Nars!
