You guys by now know I’m an instagram junkie and love discovering amazing people with amazing talents, especially when red lipstick is involved.
Many of you may have seen Blair Breitenstein’s work gracing various ad campaigns i.e Coach, Prada, Calvin Klein. I love the fact that in various pieces of Blair’s artwork, crimson pouts are a focal point. That and the fact that she looks stunning in red.
In this photo she’s sporting one of my favorite Velvet Matte Lip Pencils by Nars in Cruella, looks like I’m going to have to go out and re-buy it.
“I wear red lipstick when I want to spice up my appearance, it makes me feel at least 10x fancier with barely any effort” – Blair Breitenstein, Illustrator
Also, in case you guys were wondering, you can purchase Blair’s work through her etsy shop.
I don’t know why I didn’t think of this post before, for months now all I’ve been doing is applying my crimson pout and earrings as my only accessories.
And lately I’ve been wearing my Dragon Girl by Nars, and after lunch I apply a bit of my Red Red by Butter London and I can vouch that the combination is lethal, it stays on even after a romantic interlude.
What’s your favorite combination for long-lasting power?
Sometimes it’s hard to find the perfect lip liner for your chosen shade of crimson, it’s either a matching shade or a nude.
I have various of each, but for one reason or another they don’t end up working the way I want.
I recently went out and bought a new red from Nars, Carmen to be exact.
My friend Dalia tried to steer me away from that color and now after wearing it a few days I realize that she was right. The formula has a lot of black in it, wearing it with another red lip liner doesn’t help.
How did I salvage my new crimson hue? I used Votre Vu’s Dramatic Lip Liner in Naked as my lip liner and ladies I couldn’t be happier. The nude cut into the black and now my lips take on the hue I fell in love with.
My advice, if you’re looking for the perfect nude lip liner that literally works with everything you’re going to want to try this. A plus is that it’s organic, so it’s good for you too. I also love the packaging and that there are refills available.
Jungle Red by Nars is a personal favorite that is being worn down to the nub. If you guys haven’t seen the movie “The Women” that’s where the name for the iconic lipstick came from.
I love that movie and watch it every other year or so. I’m a huge fan of 1930’s Films. Why? Not only because the leading ladies wore matching red lips and nails, but because some of the best writing went into those movies.
