Here we see a Parisian staple of French blue, black and Red Lipstick…..
‘Red lipstick is an important colour! Do not follow fashion when it comes to red lipstick – find the one that suits you. Test red shades on your fingertips to see the colour, then when you find the colour you like, test it on your mouth.’ – Mary Greenwell for Vogue.com

Lately I’ve been going through my red lipsticks and realized that I have several true reds that I haven’t worn in a long-time. I pulled out Red Hot Red by Besame Cosmetics and received so many compliments, so many head turns. I was even hit on by a man and a woman, only in San Francisco.
Red Hot Red is a true blue red, with more pink undertones. The color works beautifully with light olive skin and the great news is that it makes my pearly whites look whiter.
The pigment is moisturizing and honestly I don’t have to reapply after morning coffee or afternoon lunch.
Three different Mac lip products were used to create this luscious lip color. This combination wouldn’t be complete without the smudge of black kohl on the outer corners of the lash-line, plus are you digging the manicure?
Pretty pops of color are always welcome, especially when applied correctly. Flipping through the pages of W Magazine I came across this gorgeous picture, what better way to wear red lipstick than with purple mascara?
I’ll be honest too, I’ve tried various mascaras, and so far my favorite is YSL.
My favorite of course is: MASCARA VOLUME EFFET FAUX CILS – Lashes are luscious, dense and just beautiful.

I love Net-a-Porter’s Magazine The Edit: read below an excert dedicated to French Beauty.
Pared-Back Makeup:
“Understatement sits at the very core of French style – the only exception being red lipstick. Foundations and concealers are used, but applied with discipline. “The Parisienne look has a very natural finish,” says the brains behind Yves Saint Laurent’s iconic Touche Éclat, French makeup artist Terry de Gunzburg. “I layer hyaluronic [water-based] products to achieve a ‘no makeup’ look. They hydrate and plump skin, and also reduce the lines that give away the signs of a woman’s age.”
Ritournelle is one of my favorite blogs, it’s fresh, and utterly chic. I love reading about Anne Mullier’s discoveries and excursions in the world of fashion, beauty and everything in-between.
Red Lipstick:
“I started wearing red lipstick while interning at L’Oréal; I shared my office with a makeup artist and naturally I asked him for beauty tips. He recommended that I try red lipstick and from then on I was hooked. I like to highlight my lips and red brings a nice luminosity to my pale complexion. I also find red lipstick to immediately change the way you carry yourself, like an elegant dress, a luxurious perfume or high heels. Sometimes when I’m going out to the opera or a concert at night with no time to change, I just add red to my lips and feel dressed up. Actually, I apply my lipstick with my finger because it allows me to choose how deep I want my red, from barely-there to a chic full-on look. It’s like having several lipsticks in one. That may be why I own only one red lipstick, Guerlain Le Rouge G in Gala (n°21). It’s very moisturizing, stays on forever (even through a meal) and above all I love the packaging with its mirror. – Anne Mullier, Ritournelleblog.com
This is a good story, relating Red Lipstick and our humanity. “A Tale of Lipstick” An extract from the diary of Lieutenant Colonel Mervin Willett Gonin DSO who was among the first British soldiers to liberate Bergen-Belsen in 1945.
