Haircare

haircareI’m obsessed with my hair, I’m a Leo after all. A brush I swear by is the Tangle Teezer, it keeps my hair silky smooth and tangle free.

Another item I can’t live without is my Huile de Palm by Leonor Greyl.  I apply it in the evenings and rinse it out the following morning, results are lust-worthy locks.

I also mix in Oribe and Serge Normant for styling my tresses, this is for when I need to make an impression, like a date etc.

I also only use haircare accessories by Alexandre de Paris, my sisters and I are crazy for them.

So, what haircare items are you guys using?

All Of My Reds

RedLipsticksI took this Jpg in 2011 when I made the change from a beauty blog to an all red lipstick blog.  Now I added other lifestyle posts at the recommendation of my sister Wendy.

Not much has changed, I still have various shades of red.  How many do you guys have?

The Perfect Summer Duo – Besame Cosmetics

BesameMy New Tango Red from Besame Cosmetics arrived yesterday and I love it. I also received the Apricot Rouge that doubles as a cheek and lip tint for that perfect sun-kissed look.

The plus side is that these hues work on all skin tones and add the right amount of color.

The perfect duo for those lazy days of summer.

You Should Wear More Color

Louboutin cartoon

I saw this cartoon and instantly identified, instead my touch of color is usually my crimson pout.

I wish I knew a cartoonist who could draw me with my signature red lip.

I’m in black from head-to-toe 95% percent of the time.

How about you?

How to Wear a Striped Tshirt

Breton Striped Tee's
Breton Striped Tee’s

Reading The Edit by Net-A-Porter this afternoon I re-discovered my love of the striped t-shirt, made famous by Coco Chanel. dior

A classic staple in every chic closet.

How do you wear one? Easy, with denim, pearls, ballet flats and red lipstick.

A bit of trivia, did you know that the Breton Striped T-shirt has 21 stripes, one for every one of Napoleon’s victories?

Something else, I’m a huge history connoisseur, especially when it comes to Napoleon.

I own various striped tees, but not one of these.

Anyway, these are on my list.

City Girl In Red Lipstick – Dragon Girl by Nars

meI’m going to be brave and post my current selfie, mind you I hate, hate having my picture taken.  I am not photogenic in the least and rarely ever turn out well.

The only times I look decent are when I’m behind the camera, go figure.

Anyway, this is me and I’m wearing Dragon Girl by Nars.

What’s your current signature shade of crimson?

Baring Summer Skin – Soap & Glory

photoI’m not saying my body is bikini ready, but this little gem helps.  I’ve been applying it to my tummy and thighs and have noticed my skin becoming smoother and firmer.

And just in time, I have a romantic weekend planned, but I won’t be sharing that story with you  come Monday morning.

What’s your favorite body treatment?

Summer Cherry

Miranda Kerr always looks chic and pulled together, especially because she’s never without her crimson pout.

Last night Miranda stepped out in a bright juicy cherry lip and this makes me want to try lip gloss again, even though I know I won’t like it.

Naturally Gorgeous Lashes

photoMy eye allergies act up periodically and I usually can’t wear mascara, like the week before last.

I also keep my beauty routine simple on the weekends, as I spend too much time getting myself together and out the door during the week.

I take advantage and apply my Talika Lipocils twice a day when faced with those situations.

Talika Lipocils is the best in lash enhancement serums, it was created for burned victims who lost all of their lashes. It’s safe and effective, producing naturally gorgeous lashes.

Sometimes all a girl needs is a red lip and the lashes of her dreams.

Le Episode of the Madeleine

photoI’ve become obsessed with Marcel Proust and Le episode of the Madeleine.

So much so that I ordered a Madeleine tin and made sure I was fully stocked with the ingredients to make a batch of my own.

Why? Because I enjoyed that chapter immensely and identified with him for the first time since beginning the book.  I had to get past page 15 to finally get into the story.

I missed buying these little beauties yesterday, which would have been fitting with it being Bastille Day, but better late than never.

I consider myself to be a literary snob, I am drawn to the classics and sometimes feel like I have been living under a rock when I discover a new book that has developed a cult following among my peers.

I’ve known of Marcel Proust, just never bothered to read his Remembrance of Things Past until Sofia Sanchez Barrenechea was reading The Captive.

She inspired me and now finally after having all 7 volumes in my possession am I starting to understand why Proust is hailed one of the greats of the literary world.
