What would life be like if we didn’t wake up wanting something, even if it was a new bracelet, top or handbag?

I have a few things on my wish list, every so often I make one, and eventually get everything on the list.  These are a few items that I can totally use on a daily basis.

K. Jacques

I can wear the red/white striped Tee by Chance as a layering piece under my little black jackets and eventually alone as I lose more weight.

The K. Jacques sandals I can wear with my Mexican Pheasant blouses and boyfriend jeans.  Although I don’t wear yellow-gold jewelry, I love Aurelie Bidermann, I love everything she designs, it’s all so bohemian Chic.

Detox Smoothie – Day 3

photo-1I was feeling dizzy, light-headed and sleepy yesterday, and that was because I didn’t have any of my Tulsi Organic Green Tea, I didn’t make that mistake again today.

I stopped in at Native Juice but they were out of my detox soup, I had to improvise and have my favorite smoothie at Juice Shop, they are the luxury of juices in San Francisco.

Everything is cold-pressed, more expensive but they only use quality ingredients and everything is organic.

Today I had the 5 Seed Smoothie: hemp seeds, chia seeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, flax seeds and strawberries, banana, blue-green algae, sprouted raw almonds, vanilla bean, Himalayan salt and filtered water.

I don’t think I can make this myself, as everything tastes better store-bought.

Today is going by a lot better than yesterday, so what did you have for lunch?

City Girl in Red Lipstick – Frida Kahlo

Frida Kahlo 1I always felt a connection with Frida Kahlo, because we were both born with uni-brows. However I over tweezed and since have been in eyebrow rehab, but that’s another story.

I love Frida’s work and have several retablos of her paintings, but my favorite is the one of Diego Rivera that shows him holding his two loves in both his hands. frida-kahlo-look-alike-contest-16I often visit this painting at the San Francisco Museum of modern art and stare at it for what seems like an eternity.

I’ve read biographies and seen movies and always come away impressed.

She celebrated her heritage, culture and always stayed true to herself. I am thinking that she started the “selfie” trend, with her various self portraits.

She remains one of Mexico’s most celebrated treasures and guess what? She wore red lipstick.

Model recommended Haircare – Leonor Greyl

leonorgreylI first heard of Leonor Greyl reading the European fashion magazines and on blogs like Style.com.  Everyone was raving about it, especially the models that sat in chairs for hours before a fashion shoot or show.

Their claim was that it was the only brand that saved their precious locks during color changes, wigs, hair tools etc.

Well, I’ve become a fan and know exactly what they are talking about, it really is the best natural haircare collection available.

Creme Moelle de Bambou is one of the few shampoos I use that doesn’t require the use of a hair conditioner afterwards, My tresses are left silky smooth, soft and flyaways are more manageable.

I recommend that you invest in a quality shampoo and like fashion you can mix high and low brands, you just have to know your stuff.

I love the Masque Quintessence because it’s one of the few masks that can be applied on dry hair, this works best for me because I hate waiting in the shower for a mask to perform.

Another favorite item that really does tame flyaways is their Serum De Soie, your locks will be smooth, sleek and natural looking.

So, what haircare products do you use?

Dextox Soup – Native Juice

photo-2Native Juice is this place that opened up near our office in the financial district.  I am a huge fan of their smoothies, but lately I’ve been hooked on their Detox Soup.

I know it has cucumber puree and other green veggies but I can’t think of them now, maybe because I’m feeling a little light headed.

However my treat was the tiny slices of cucumbers on top of the soup as a garnish and I’m beginning to think that cucumbers are now my new best friends.

It’s a little spicy, but I like anything with the word detox in it. Cucumber salad sounds good right now.

What did you guys have for lunch?

Detoxing – The 2nd Day

via Emerson Fry
via Emerson Fry

I lost over 30 pounds by detoxing and juicing, plus making conscious food choices. Then I began enjoying gluten free bread a bit too much and other freshly baked goods from “Sift” and “Susie Cakes”.

With too many birthdays and holidays I realized I was in danger of gaining my weight back, so far I maintained it, with a few extra pounds give or take.

I make my own green juices, but don’t make much of anything else.  So, to jump start my detoxing week and after I first made some of my green juices, but this time I added grapefruit to the recipe as it aids in removing grease/oil from the body.

photocancancleanseMy sisters and I order cleanses from Can Can Cleanse and it’s convenient because they have a pick up location right around the corner from our house.  We also sometimes buy the juices a la cart, since I only make green juices. The great concept behind Can Can Cleanse is portion control and that you can modify your beverages to adjust to your schedule.

Yesterday was my first day, I had over 3 liters of water, green tea, green juice, a detox cucumber soup and grapefruit juice with water. I also take my vitamins and went to bed early.  So far so good.

Today I started with my lemon water and dash of cayenne pepper, then my lemon tumeric juice and you get the drift.

My plans are to do a water fast and add green tea if I can’t cope.

What about you guys, have you thought about a cleanse?

Le Weekend – Sonoma

photo-1fireplaceI don’t know about you guys, but extensive travel for me these past few years has been out of the question, I just simple don’t have the budget for European excursions.

However my sisters and I made it to Sonoma this past weekend, it started off just being a visit to the annual Bottle Rock concert. However being in Sonoma is a reason to visit some of California’s best winary’s, such as Ram’s Gate.

photo-3The place is beautiful, so beautiful that you actually want to live there and never leave.

Plus the menu and offerings are affordable and vary from Flight Tasting to Picnic’s for two. We made reservations for the “Palate Play”, a wine tour and a mouth watering experience.

We ended up going to Bottle Rock afterwards and enjoyed music by The Cure and the next day stopped off at Angelo’s Deli for mouth watering sandwiches and his renowned Garlic Salsa.

Being in Sonoma there are various fruit stands and we stopped off and picked up our farm-to-table produce for our week of detoxing.

I’m detoxing all week this week, stay tuned!

So, how was your weekend?

On My Wish List – Brazilian Jewels

SJP Vogue
Vogue

My sister Wendy and I have been fashion magazine and catalog junkies since we were in our teens, with our favorite magazines being the European versions like British Elle, Paris Vogue etc.

Why? Because they are ahead of whatever is going on around here, including beauty, music, literature, film and jewelery.

J.Crew
J.Crew

Wendy is a jewelery aficionado and receives all of the jewelery catalogs from H.Stern, Pommaleto etc.

We sometimes play a game by choosing which items we would love to receive as gifts.  This is how I discovered the Brazilian Jewels by H.Stern, they are referred to as Brazilian Jewels because they are mined there.

AnnaWintour
Vogue

If you don’t know what type of necklace this is, just look at Anna Wintour or SJP.

H.Stern

I’ve been dying to buy a strand and know that there is a luxury store in England that sells them by the strand for like about $1500 depending on the size and stone. But I’ll have to go back and look at the December magazines again.

However if that’s not within your budget you can pick one up from J.Crew.

I love how Anna wears multiple strands and how SJP is wearing hers under her sweater with a strand of pearls.

What do you guys think?

The Chyc Cabas by YSL

yves-saint-laurent-cabas-chyc-bagI know this handbag came out in 2011, but I just noticed it on the world-wide web and I am in love.

I’m a huge YSL Handbag fan, it’s the only handbag brand acceptable to buy on sale, why? Because YSL never goes out of style, it’s endlessly chic.

My style used to be Pacific Heights Boho, but after purchasing my first YSL Muse my wardrobe became a more urban mix, now I wear my tunics etc on hot summer days or tropical vacations.

The great news is that the Chyc Cabas is still available on Ebay and possibly the YSL Outlet.
