Playing With Colour – MAKE COLOUR

Celeste-e-Verde-Palette_1_1000_WhiteI don’t know about you guys but I love playing with colour, layering, mixing and matching. A new brand I mentioned awhile ago is by MAKE.

The colours are bold, look-at-me colours that can be applied subtly or with dramatic flair.  Everything is in the wrist and your favorite makeup brushes, although I have been known to use my fingertips.

This palette is called Celeste e Verde, Blue & Green and the colours are sublime.  The pigments have long-wearing colour, they don’t come off until you take them off.

I can’t wait to try these with one of my various shades of crimson and guess what? If you forget to take your tried&true red, there is a red inside that not only compliments the shades but various skin tones. Plus, if you’re not in the mood for red there are other shades available.

Truly a collection of fiery brights and gorgeous earth tones.

I also took drama classes and writing classes, alas I didn’t pursue either of them as actively as I could have. Not that I would be famous if I had, of course.

I’ve indulged a bit this week, with it being my birthday week.

Red Lipstick *is the power tie of the boardroom – of the world

I love that she’s not afraid of wearing red lipstick, most women are for some reason. 

It’s our power tie of the boardroom – of the world.  However I never looked at it as a power move and I’m sure they didn’t either.

I just grew up admiring women that wore red lipstick and knew that I wanted to be just like them, opinionated, intelligent, strong and beautiful. Not that I am any of those things except for opinionated. I can’t very well call myself beautiful.

Going Back-to-Basics With 3LAB

3LABInvesting in a quality cleanser and exfoliating scrub is important to healthy skin. It’s also okay to have several, after all no two cleansers or scrubs are created equal.

You need a milky cleanser for dry skin or for when your skin feels dry, a foaming cleanser for combination to oily skin or for those moments when you’ve been working up an appetite.

Our skin changes with the climate, travel and our overall health. I personally never know what my skin might need.

Two of my favorite skincare basics are by 3LAB.  I love their Perfect Cleansing Foam  and Perfect Cleansing Scrub,  both were named appropriately because ladies they are perfect.

Both are gentle for daily use, I admit I use an exfoliating scrub on my skin every morning, it’s part of getting my canvas ready for my makeup application, you need healthy skin for a smooth makeup application.

I love the cleanser because a little goes a long way, the foam is incredible and each tube can last 6 months if used twice a day.

I usually prefer my scrubs to be grittier, but this one is perfect for all skin types, even sensitive skin.

How To Marry A Millionaire

lauren-bacall-then-3How To Marry A Millionaire is my favorite Lauren Bacall movie. Believe it or not, it’s a movie I put into the DVD player or VHS every few years.

How_to_marry_a_millionaireIt’s just hysterical and I don’t believe that if I were standing inline buying food that a man would cover my tab if I found myself without funds.  But then you can ask, what deli or grocery store am I in or the truth is that men like that  don’t exist anymore.

Lauren Bacall is a legend, all she had to do was put her lips together and blow and every single man fell at her feet.

We at least have all of her movies to remind us of what true glamor is all about, oh and she wore red lipstick.

Inner Beauty

TEAJust because I haven’t been talking about juicing, organic produce and eating gluten-free carbs doesn’t mean I stopped trying to be healthy.

On the contrary, I’ve been actively searching for a Beauty Powder to add into my morning smoothies and so far the only one I am interested in is not available in the states.  I’m sad about this.

However I recently had an amazing facial at the St.Regis Spa, where Nida gave me some beauty education.  She told me that drinking Chamomile tea helps diffuse redness.

VitaminsMy issues with red skin are my tiny broken capillary veins, these were caused by my washing my skin in hotter water than normal.  No one ever told me not to cleanse my skin with hot water, that’s apparently a  big no, no.

Now I drink green tea and  a cup of chamomile every morning, on top of my two liters of water.

I also take two important vitamins, a Charcoal Cap for detoxification and a Chlorophyll vitamin for inner healthy skin.

However I will say this, if you’re going to eat non-gluten-free carbs, make sure that your bread, cake or cookies were made fresh that morning.  Don’t buy your treat if it comes out of a box.

Kim and her daughter Mia come over to our place every holiday and make Christmas cookies with us. Kim taught me how to make Russian Tea Cakes and really good sugar cookies., thank you Kim!

She was married this weekend to a great guy(Chris) and we are so happy for her, thank you Kim for having invited us to your amazing wedding!

Hair Obsessed

HaircareI am obsessed with my hair, I admit it.  If I’m running late it’s because my hair isn’t behaving properly.

This weekend I had a daytime wedding to attend, and styling my hair became a mini occupation, why? Because it was going to be outdoors and I was in need of a trim.

These are the products I used to achieve a style I was comfortable and happy with.

I again used Leonor Greyl products, Oribe and added Redken to the mix.

I know that by using Leonor Grely and Oribe I am guaranteed gorgeous tresses.

City Girl in Red Lipstick – France, Bettina Graziani, Model

33rdhaaaxt1itxiaToday’s post was going to be about skincare, going back to basics to be exact but I changed my mind.

I finally was able to surf the net a little and came across  an article on  Bettina Graziani for Paris Vogue. I love discovering fashion icons of the 1950’s. Who was she? Only the most photographed model in France, of her generation.

Bettina GrazianiShe was beautiful and guess what? She wore red lipstick.  I just wish I knew what shades she preferred, more than likely those shades have been discontinued by now.
